5 Steps to Texas Broker Registration Compliance

As you may have recently heard, effective September 1st, if you are not registered as a broker with the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT), suppliers will no longer by allowed to accept agreements from brokers without a temporary registered broker ID or a permanent registered broker ID.

We want to ensure all of our clients have this information as soon as it was published!

  • August 1st, revised form to be filed in Project 49711
  • August 8th – Form filed and Interim form adopted
  • September 1st – SB 1497 to take effect

Here is a little information about the bill

SB 1497 – Requires suppliers to only do business with LICENSED brokers. Upon submission of the form from the broker to the PUCT by or before September 1st, PUCT will issue the broker a temporary ID to continue doing business while the commission exercises their 60 day turnaround time to review and approve any broker submission

Your 5 steps to success!

1.) Go online and download the broker registration form here from the PUCT website

2.) Fill out the form (do so on a computer because you need to print 7 copies!)

3.) Print out 7 copies of the document

4.) Get your Affadavidt statement (on the broker registration form) Notarized

5.) Mail the copies into the PUC at
